Originally from Norfolk, VA, Mahira has been a Richmond native since 2007 - a former Tucker Tiger and two-time VCU Ram. Mahira graduated from VCU in 2019 with a Bachelor's in Biomedical Engineering and in 2023 with a Doctorate in Occupational Therapy. Her journey with OT began after helping her five year old cousin go from poor puzzle piece manipulation to independently completing a puzzle with much pride; the joy from that simple process told her that's what she wanted to pursue. She has a passion for all things pediatrics and values empowering both children and families to achieve goals together as a team. Mahira has worked in outpatient pediatrics for 1.5 years, and aspires to eventually work in Acute Care Pediatrics with high-risk infants and children with complex medical needs. Outside of work, Mahira loves to go on long walks with her dog, Akira, read, dance, travel, and re-watch favorite TV shows.
